Instructions to Authors
Original papers submitted to the journal should deal with significant topics of interest in physical therapy. Original papers written in English will be accepted for publication with the understanding that they have not been published previously, nor are under consideration for publication, in any other journal. All manuscripts will be reviewed by peers and judged on the basis of: a) value of the technical content; b) effectiveness and clarity of presentation; c) professional standard. The copyright for any article appearing in this journal will be held by the Society of Physical Therapy Science.
Affirmation of Originality and Assignment of Copyright Form
A completed Affirmation of Originality and Assignment of Copyright Form should be signed by all authors and submitted with the manuscript data in PDF form. Please attach the document at the end of the submitted manuscript. The Affirmation of Originality and Assignment of Copyright Form can be downloaded from the website of the Society of Physical Therapy Science (http://spts.jpn.com/en/JPTS.html).
Informed Consent and Ethics
Studies on human participants should comply with the ethical standards of the Declaration of Helsinki (1975, revised 1983). Authors must specify that the ethical committee in the respective institution or hospital has approved the studies and that written informed consent has been obtained from each participant or patient. All experiments using animals should be done under the approval of the appropriate animal experimentation committee and this should be specified in the text. Write the name of the ethics committee and the given approval number. If not approved by an ethics committee, describe the ethical consideration.
Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial and personal relationships with other people or organizations that could inappropriately influence or bias their work. If there are no conflicts of interest, please write that there are none.
TIDieR Checklist
We encourage submitting authors to complete the TIDieR (Template for Intervention Description and Replication) checklist at the time of submission of a manuscript that describes any study that involves the delivery of an intervention. Peer review
All articles published in Journal of Physical Therapy Science has been single-blind reviewed. Independent experts within the same field of research are responsible for critically reading, evaluating and providing authors with feedbacks to improve their work.
Open access statement
Journal of Physical Therapy Science is an Open Access journal and all articles published are free to access immediately from the date of publication.

Journal of Physical Therapy Science publishes articles distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives (by-nc-nd) License. (CC-BT-NC-ND 4.0: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/). With Creative Commons licensed, the author retains copyright and the public is allowed to reuse the content.
Publication Fee
If the corresponding author is not a member of the Society of Physical Therapy Science, the submission charge is 10,000 yen for each manuscript. A Submission charge will not be levied for a member of the Society of Physical Therapy Science. The page charge is 20,000 yen per page in published format. The fees are to be paid when requested by the Society of Physical Therapy Science. The authors from developing countries must also pay the full amount.
Manuscripts Preparation
1. | Download submission format (Word file) from the journal website (http://spts.jpn.com/en/JPTS.html), follow all instructions and prepare manuscript. | |||
2. | Manuscripts must be typed with 25-mm margins on both sides using 9.5-point type in Times New Roman font with 24 lines per page on A4-size (210 × 297 mm) paper. All lines of the text should be numbered serially in the left margin, and the entire manuscript should be paginated. The text should be divided into captioned sections, such as INTRODUCTION, PARTICIPANTS AND METHODS, RESULTS, DISCUSSION. | |||
3. | The first page of the manuscript should include the title, author’s full name, affiliation, the complete mailing address, and e-mail address of the corresponding author. | |||
4. | The second page should include an abstract not exceeding 200 words and key words (up to 3). Abbreviations and special symbols should not be used in the abstract. | |||
5. | All manuscripts should go through English proofreading before submission and the manuscript should be submitted with a certificate. | |||
6. | If a part of your research was presented in a conference, write the name of the conference, volume and issue number of the abstract or the URL of the abstract page after Discussion. | |||
7. | Each table should be typed on a separate sheet of paper also with double-spacing, and should include a brief explanatory heading. | |||
8. | Tables should be created by Microsoft Excel® or Microsoft Word® and saved with extention “.xls” or “.doc” before submission. (Tables created by Microsoft PowerPoint® will not be accepted.) | |||
9. | Figures should be in black ink on heavy white paper with special attention paid to clarity. A separate sheet of paper should be used for each figure legend. | |||
10. | References should be listed in the order in which they appear in the article. Journal references should give author’s surname followed by forename initials, title of article, name of periodical, publication year, volume number, and the first and last page numbers. In the reference list, include all authors’ names for works with up to three authors, if there are four or more authors, list first three names followed by “et al.”. Book citations should give authors, book title, edition, city, publisher, year, and page numbers, if necessary. | |||
