About SPTS
The Society of Physical Therapy Science (SPTS) is a subsidiary of the Study Group of Exercise Physiology, which was started by volunteers in 1986. What started as a study group for physical therapists with an interest in exercise physiology research has since burgeoned into a society which publishes its own academic journals and holds regular training sessions.
On December 8, 2006, SPTS was established and registered as a limited liability intermediate corporation. Then, in accordance with the public interest corporation system reforms of 2008, SPTS registered to become a general incorporated association from April 1, 2009.
SPTS is active in promoting scholarship and science with regards to physical therapy, collaborating with international parties, and protecting and promoting public health. In its efforts to promote scholarship and science in physical therapy, it holds regular scientific meetings, publishes the "Rigakuryoho Kagaku" journal (Japanese) and the "Journal of Physical Therapy Science" (English), and holds regular workshops and seminars to hone the skills and knowledge of its members. In terms of international collaborations, SPTS is proactively involved in the physical therapy field in developing countries with international scientific meetings, workshops, individual instruction to physical therapists, health education for local residents, patient care assistance, and more.
As of November 2018, the active membership is 3,725.
