The 36th International Meeting of Physical Therapy Science in Korea
The 36th International Meeting of Physical Therapy Science in Korea jointly hosted the 15th Korean Academy of Neuromuscular Physical Therapy. This conference featured intensive discussions by experts from Japan, South Korea, and China on the theme of “International Research Courses and the Direction of Training for Specialist Physical Therapists in the Field of Neuromuscular Rehabilitation”.
Professor CHON SeungChul of Konyang University was the chairman of the academic conference. On the same day as the September 7th, Konyang University’s academic festival was held, with approximately 300 people participating in person and online, including clinical physical therapists, university faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students. The participants included doctors, physical therapists specializing in industrial physical therapy, and people from other professions who collaborated with physical therapists. The special lectures included one topic from Japan, one from Korea, and two from China. Lively discussions took place during the oral and poster presentations of research presentations, and international academic exchanges took place.
At the venue, there was a booth where visitors could experience Korea’s latest rehabilitation robots, allowing them to observe the latest developments in rehabilitation-related equipment.
After the conference, the participants visited the Konyang University campus and the rehabilitation room of the affiliated hospital. At the information exchange meeting, participants had a free and wide-ranging discussion over a delicious dinner and exchanged ideas on a wide range of topics, including international empathy, sharing different values, and future prospects.
September 8th was World Physiotherapy Day, and the Japanese participants had the valuable opportunity to visit Korea's World Heritage sites and deepen their understanding of Korean history and culture through excursions.
The next year's International Meeting of Physical Therapy Science in Korea has been scheduled to be held at Silla University in Busan from September 5th to September 7, 2025. We will continue to prepare for the conference next year, which will contribute to the development of physical therapy through international academic exchanges.
