The 21st International Meeting of Physical Therapy Science in China


The 21st International Meeting of Physical Therapy Science was held on March 25th, 2017 at Suzhou Central Hotel in Suzhou city, China. Nearly 320 students and healthcare professionals from Suzhou and other areas of China attended this meeting. The opening remarks were presented by the Chairman of the Meeting, Dr. Yang Weixin, and also by the President of the Society of Physical Therapy Science, Dr. Hitoshi Maruyama.

Three Special lectures were respectively presented by Dr. Yang Weixin from China, and Dr. Yoshinobu Goto, and Dr. Huo Ming from Japan.
Their titles were “Treatment of neurogenic bladder conditions in patients suffering from spinal cord injury,” “New methods for evaluating cognitive function using visual stimuli,” and “Research on urinary incontinence in middle-aged women.”
In his lecture, Dr. Yoshinobu Goto explained how the human visual system captures and processes visual information. His findings will lead to new methods for evaluating cognitive dysfunction.

Very interesting oral presentations were made by 10 Chinese and 2 Japanese. 21 poster presentations were also presented by 6 healthcare professionals from China and 15 people who were faculty members, graduate students and clinicians from Waseda University, Himeji Dokkyo University, Teikyo University of Science, Hosei University, Kobe International University, and the International University of Health and Welfare.

The closing remarks were given by Dr. Shigeko Fujisawa of PKU Care Rehabilitation Hospital. Twenty physical therapist and medical doctor from Japan attended the meeting, which was a great success with many lively question and answer sessions.
